KITCHENAID THE BOOK AND THE COOK, AMERICA'S ORIGINAL FESTIVAL OF CELEBRATED COOKBOOK AUTHORS AND GREAT FOOD, RETURNS MARCH 17 - 26, 2006
 |
KitchenAid The Book and The Cook Restaurant Series marks its 22nd year of featuring the world's noted cookbook authors in the kitchens of the Philadelphia region's great restaurants on March 17 - 26 and on March 24 - 26 presents those culinary stars on the demonstration stages of the KitchenAid The Book and The Cook Culinary Market & Kitchen Showcase at the Fort Washington Expo Center.
The Restaurant Series invites food fans to reserve at any of up to 75 restaurants each hosting an individual cookbook author to collaborate with the host chef in the creation of a pre fixe menu inspired by the guest author's recipes. At each restaurant authors meet and interact with the dining public at the table and autograph their cookbooks.
Many of the festival's culinary stars will also appear at the Culinary Market & Kitchen Showcase to lead non-stop cooking demonstrations in rotation on four stages and sign their cookbooks for the audience. The Showcase offers more than 140 exhibiters of gourmet foods, cookware, and appliances for browsing and purchase. The 2006 Showcase will also introduce themed pavilions featuring focused exhibits such as the artisanal products of the Abruzzo region of Italy; select exhibitors representing the National Association of Specialty Food Trades; and the Pennsylvania Preferred Pavilion highlighting specialty food producers and growers sourced from throughout the commonwealth. In addition, Hatfield Quality Meats presents the "Philadelphia's Best New Chef Competition" inviting the regions up-and-coming culinary talent to face off for the 2006 title.
Guest cookbook authors appearing at restaurants during the Restaurant Series and at The Showcase include: John Ash, author of John Ash Cooking One on One; Rick Bayless, PBS TV host of "Mexico One Plate at a Time" and author of Mexican Everyday; Cesare Casella, chef-owner of New York City's Maremma Restaurant and author of True Tuscan; Food Network star and author of Cat Cora's Kitchen, Cat Cora; Giuliano Hazan, author of How to Cook Italian; Dave Lieberman, host of Food Network's "Cheap Eats with Dave Lieberman" and author of Young & Hungry; Joan Nathan, author of New American Cooking; PBS TV host of "Weir Cooking" and author of From Tapas to Meze, Joanne Weir; Paula Wolfert author of The Cooking of Southwest France; and David Wondrich, author of Killer Cocktails (list incomplete).
